Tap Repair Guide: Installing the Franke Athena Tap Cartridge

Before proceeding to install the Franke Athena tap cartridge replacement please turn off the tap’s hot and cold water supply. Test to see if isolation is achieved by turning the tap on.

This cartridge is the replacement cartridge for the 20 teeth spline 1212R-C or 133.0440.351.

1. Pop out the middle small circular button found on the side of the Franke Athena tap handle. Take extra care not to scratch the chrome finish when using a tool.

The retaining screw can now be accessed.

2. Undo or loosen the retaining screw.

3. Pull the handle to separate it from the tap body.

4. Use an adjustable spanner to unscrew and remove the 1212R or 133.0440.351 Franke Athena tap cartridge.

5. Seat the Franke Athena replacement valve. Use the spanner to tighten it till hand tight.

6. Return and secure the tap handle.

7. Pop in the small button.
