A Short and General Guide to Replacing a Crosswater SPACW0012

Just like any other cartridge, a flow cartridge is located under the shower tap handle. A tap equipped with a cartridge makes replacing the spare part easier than those without it.

An underperforming cartridge might require a new replacement, especially if mineral debris has formed inside it. If the cartridge is in use for a long time, the brass material can corrode and the metal’s zinc content may dissolve. This will make the apparatus weak and susceptible to fracturing.

The general process for changing a cartridge involves deconstructing the valve handle. The 322, 422, and KO340 Crosswater bath tap types are similar to each other. To access the cartridge, remove the handle from whichever side you need to repair: the right side for hot or the left side for cold. Proceed, then, to remove the temperature stop ring using a pair of needle-nose pliers.

The SPACW0012 is installed in the valve by its threads. Hence, once the handle is taken out, use a spanner to loosen and withdraw the cartridge from its seat. Grease the new cartridge with silicone lubricant and fit it inside the valve. Reconstruct the valve.
