Armitage Shanks S960171AA Cartridge Removal and Replacement for Avon 21 Basin Pillar Tap (B8267AA)

1. Isolate or switch off hot and cold water supplies. Plug the sink’s drain to keep screws from plunging in.
2. Prise out the screw cap located behind the tap handle. Use a 2.5mm Allen key to remove the grub screw.
3. Lift the handle to remove.
4. Unscrew the chrome covering with a 41mm A/F spanner. Remove it together with the adjustment ring.
5. Pull the cartridge out. The brass housing will come out with the cartridge.
6. Use a 22mm A/F spanner to screw the faulty cartridge out of the housing.

7. Scan the inside of the tap unit for dirt and debris. Clean the valve seat if it is necessary.
8. Grease the O-ring of the S960171AA Armitage Shanks / Ideal Standard cartridge spare part with silicone grease before setting it in the brass housing.

9. Use the spanner to tighten the new Armitage Shanks S960171AA replacement metering cartridge in the brass housing. The ideal torque is 15Nm. Be careful not to damage the parts.
9. Introduce the cartridge with the brass housing in the tap valve. See to it the lobe portion of the housing is installed towards the back of the tap valve.

10. Return the chrome cover with adjustment ring. Tighten with a spanner. The recommended torque is 15Nm.
11. Fine-tune the run time if desired.
12. Refit the handle, the grub screw, and the screw cover.
13. Turn on the hot and cold water supplies.

Adjusting the Run Time of the S960171AA Metering Tap Cartridge

The run time of the Armitage Shanks Avon tap models is about 5 to 15 seconds. If you desire a longer run time, remove the handle and use the “run time adjustment key” which was provided with the tap unit.
– Turning the key clockwise will increase the run time.
– Turning it the opposite direction will shorten the run time.

Restore the handle and check if run time is sufficient.

Lock the handle in position using the grub screw and Allen key.
