Can a thermostatic cartridge be causing poor flow rate issues?

Answer:
If you shower happens to have a poor flow rate this could be the problem of either the thermostatic cartridge or a non-return valve. If your water flow is entirely cut off this is most definitely the non-return valve. Filters in the thermostatic cartridge can also become blocked by the this generally only restricts water flow. Cleaning the filters and checking the non-return valve can be done on either side of the thermostatic cartridge nut which is hexagonal.

Question:
The water temperature is stuck on hot?

Answer:
This could be a problem if your cold pipe is being blocked. The cartridge can sometimes seizes and does not mix the cold and warm water. This means you thermostatic cartridge may need replacement.

Question:
Shower continues to leak from temperature handle knob area?

Answer:
The thermostatic cartridge can be the problem for the leak if the valve around the cartridge has deteriorated. Replacing the cartridge with a secondary cartridge will fix the problem. If this does not fix the problem one of your flow valves could be broken.
