Frequently Asked Questions: Bathstore Bensham Thermostatic Shower / Shower Mixer Cartridge
Q: How do I change a thermostatic cartridge for my exposed shower valve?
A: After removing all the contraptions of the valve such as knob, lever, and washers, install the cartridge by pushing it in and screwing on the collar.

Q: How to calibrate the Bathstore Bensham thermostatic cartridge?
A: Unscrew the top cap of the valve by turning it counterclockwise. Lift the knob off and switch the shower on, waiting for it to reach the predetermined maximum temperature. Gently place the knob on top on the cartridge’s tip and turn it anti-clockwise with a quarter turn for a hotter temperature. Wait for the temperature to adjust. (If the desired temperature limit is not yet achieved, repeat the process.) When the preferred maximum temperature is attained, switch the shower off and replace the control handle. Keep in mind that the stop from under the handle should be to the left of the stop on the control shaft. This will prevent the handle from turning and changing the setting. Replace the cap and proceed to test the shower.

The Bathstore Bensham thermostatic shower cartridge spare part for thermostatic shower valves can be shipped on the same working day if ordered before 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

Extra Shower Facts: Exposed Shower Valves
One alternative when deciding on which type of shower valve to install is the exposed shower valve. The mechanism for this type of shower valve is situated from out of a bathroom’s wall in contrast to a concealed shower valve, which is hidden within the wall. Concealed showers valves are unfit for houses with concrete brick walls.

Most of the time, exposed shower valves are more economical to buy and install. Only the hot and cold water supply feeds will be installed within the walls making it easier and faster. The downside to this kind of shower valve is there is a limited distance between the valve itself and its controlling outlet due to the shower hose length.

It is possible to have direct control over the water outflow temperature when utilizing an exposed shower valve. The thermostat can either be manually regulated or it can be automatically regulated efficiently and securely. A manually regulated thermostat is more economical than the other. But an automatically regulated one might be more advisable if there are elderly or kids in the household. The reason for this is with a manual thermostat, water temperature can oscillate as pressure fluctuates.
