This cartridge assembly includes the following:

1 x Wax Thermostat Element

Most other retailers don't include the wax thermostat or slider piston with the SK971007. Our set includes the piston and thermostat used in the Sirrus SK1500-3 service kit.

The wax thermostat is a crucial part in the operation of the shower valve and is an integral part in the mixing of the hot and cold water. We highly recommend that these parts are also replaced with the SK971007 brass body, that is why we include it.

Question: I have a leak which is coming out of the top of the shower head. I took the handle off of the shower valve and took the cartridge out. One of the teeth parts on the plastic piston has snapped off. Do you think this would be enough to cause the drip?
Answer: It's possible that the snapped part could cause an imbalance within the cartridge and cause a small gap from which water can seep through and escape the valve. Therefore, replacing the piston could fix the problem. It the drip is caused by any cartridge fault, if you change the entire assembly it will fix the problem and also give many more years of problem free use from the shower.

Question: Can you tell me how to get the cartridge out of the shower valve please.
Answer: You will first need to remove the cartridge handle and covering plate. Then use a 30mm spanner to unscrew the cartridge by turning anti-clockwise. If the cartridge doesn't budge, perhaps use a hammer to tap the spanner to jolt it free.

Question: If the cartridge is wrong can I return it?
Answer: Yes, you can return the cartridge for a refund if it's undamaged.

Question: The water is always hot. When you push the tap in hard then it gets cooler but then after short time pushes back out & becomes hot again. It needs to stay in & rotate to desired temperature. I'm not sure if needs new part or replacing.
Answer: It definitely sounds like the cartridge is at fault as this is the part that controls the temperature of the water, therefore replacing the entire cartridge assembly should fix the water temperature issues. Do check that the shower valve is receiving a constant flow of hot and cold water and that the valve isn't blocked with debris. If those are fine the problem will be the cartridge.
