DURING REMOVAL OF THE CARTRIDGE THE TOP PART ILLUSTRATED ABOVE CAN SPLIT FROM THE MAIN BODY. THE BOTTOM PART LEFT IN THE WALL MUST BE REMOVED BEFORE THE NEW CARTRIDGE CAN BE FITTED.
THE TOP PART CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE NEW CARTRIDGE AS IT IS NOT DESIGNED TO BE DISMANTLE/UNSCREWED WITHOUT PROFESSIONAL MANUFATURING EQUIPMENT.
YOU CANNOT USE JUST THE TOP PART OF THE NEW CARTRIDGE IN YOUR OLD VALVE. YOU MUST SWITCH THE COMPLETE CARTRIDGE IN ITS ENTIRETY.
You will receive a full replacement cartridge and not just the top piece which is seen in the photo. During removal the old cartridge will unscrew from the valve anti-clockwise. Unfortunately the top piece unscrews from the cartridge anti-clockwise, therefore if the entire cartridge is seized in the valve with limescale, it might need more force to unscrew than the top piece, thus the separation of the parts.

If you have removed just the top part of the cartridge as shown in the images above, you will need to refit this securely into the old cartridge in order to complete the repair.
