First, a short and general description about this shower spares. Thermostatic cartridge M15-12 includes a white plastic spline adapter. The cartridge has three O-ring seals, two filter gauzings, and two spline tiers. The body is made of brass. It is a threaded cartridge which means it is screwed right in the shower valve.

The wax thermo-core of the M15-12 thermostatic cartridge is made by Vernet. The company is based in France and has been manufacturing these wax capsules since 1952. The measurement of the top spline (without the adapter) is about 11mm or 1.1cm and the larger spline tier is about 19mm or 1.9mm.

Once that is taken, measure the width of the widest part (which happens to be the cartridge threads) and the splines of the cartridge to get its diameter. The M15-12 thermostatic cartridge has 32 teeth/notches on its top spline tier without the plastic cartridge adapter. The splines connect the cartridge with the shower valve handle.
