This shower thermo cartridge comes with silicone grease

Generally, if the performance of the shower mixer valve begins to deteriorate (usually after a number of years) the problem will be with the thermostatic cartridge and therefore the cartridge will need replacing.

This cartridge is very durable, however with the abrasive nature of calcified lime scale, even the plastic cartridges can deteriorate and need replacing.
