Bristan SK1503-2LP Assembly Instructions

SK1503-2LP was previously known as the discontinued SK1500-2. The difference between the old and new version lays in the marginally bigger spindle of the SK1503-2LP. If your shower comes with the old SK1500-2, you can interchange the spindles to make it fit in your valve correctly.

Assemble this Sirrus shower spare part by inserting the wax thermo-element in the cartridge, followed by the shuttle, and then insert the spring under the shuttle.

Replacing the SK1503-2LP thermostatic cartridge assembly for Bristan Sirrus Gummers TS1500 Shower Valve

Plug the drain to keep the parts from tumbling in. Completely isolate water supply lines to prevent accidental hot water flow.

1. Turn the shower off and disassemble your shower valve handle. The method will depend on the handle you have. Take the handle (or lever) out and undo the handle cap screw.
2. Flip the front cap out using a thin and flat tool or screwdriver.
3. Remove the center screw with the help of an Allen key. Watch that the small O-ring does not fall on the bathroom floor.
4. Slide the plastic knob out. Then pull the shroud out together with the retaining ring.

5. Grip a wrench on the hexagonal nut of the cartridge. Turn it anticlockwise to loosen and withdraw the cartridge along with the wax capsule, the shuttle slider, and the spring.
6. Replace the O-rings situated in the TS1500 shower unit.
7. Apply a pea-size amount of silicone grease on the O-ring of the new SK1503-2LP cartridge.
8. Insert the assembled thermostatic cartridge in the valve and turn it clockwise to secure.

9. To begin reconstructing the valve, push in the shroud – make sure the single ridge on it is positioned at 12:00 – and the retaining ring back in place.
10. Slip the plastic knob back. The “off” indicator on the knob dial must point at 12:00.
11. Insert the tiny O-ring on the screw and screw the plastic knob in place.
12. Calibrate the temperature if desired.
13. Refit the front cap. And reassemble the shower handle.
