This is a genuine Sirrus by Gummers SK1850-2 thermostatic cartridge which includes the wax thermostat element.

Most other retailers don't include the wax element with the SK1850-2, however the wax element is the heart of the cartridge and is the part which adjusts the temperature of the water.

This SK1850-2 is used in a number of valve including Bristan 1901. Two thermostatic cartridges have been used in the 1901 range.

If the flow handle turns a maximum of ¼ turn for the shower to be fully on then the replacement cartridge has a code of:- CART 06732COMPL.

Answer: Both hot and cold water from the supply lines must flow into the thermostatic cartridge. If both are okay, the thermostatic cartridge might be at fault and the cold temperature it is producing is the temperature point from where the cartridge failed. Bristan SK1850-2 Removal and Installation

Before starting, please switch off hot and cold water supplies.

1. Flick the centre indice out of the temperature control handle. Then, proceed to unscrew the retaining screw you’ll find once the indice is out.
2. Remove the handle assembly. (Followed by the circlip and the flow control handle.)
3. Pull the sleeve out to access the old thermostatic cartridge.

4. Use a 46mm spanner to twist the cartridge anti-clockwise to remove. Also, remove the thermostat and piston assembly and the spring.

5. Assemble the new Bristan / Sirrus SK1850-2. Apply a thin layer of silicone grease on all the O-rings of the cartridge.
6. Fit the new shower cartridge in the valve seat. Tighten in place using the 46mm spanner.
7. To restore the handles of the shower unit, please do steps 1 to 3 backward.

Note: To calibrate the new Bristan thermostatic shower cartridge, place the temperature handle on top of the splines.
– Turn it clockwise to lower the temperature.
– Turn it anti-clockwise to increase the temperature.
