Answer: With a clog-free cold supply pipe, the cartridge may have failed at that temperature point, hence it is running only hot water. You need a new 5E2-1102 shower cartridge.

Question: I’m going to buy the Crosswater 5E2-1102 shower cartridge. Do I need to buy silicone grease as well?
Answer: Yes. It is important to coat the O-rings of the new cartridge with plumber’s silicone grease before installing it. This will make the cartridge sit right in the shower valve. It will protect the O-rings from early wear and tear.

Question: I want to change the Crosswater 5E2-1102 thermostatic cartridge myself. Are there tips and tricks that’ll help me?
Answer: You always have to remember to turn off hot and cold water supplies before starting the cartridge replacement. This will prevent injuries from happening in case of unintended water flow.
