Question: Water flow started to weaken. Is the thermostatic cartridge broken?
Answer: There are a number of reasons for poor water flow. Lack of water pressure can be one. Another possibility is mineral buildup. This can harden and clog the flow control or the thermostatic cartridge, even a shower hose. The flow rate of the shower must give around 24.5 liters per minute at 3 bar. Calcification requires thermostatic cartridge replacement.

Question: The cartridge in my shower looks somewhat identical. Will this fit?

Question: Water pressure is too strong.
Answer: You have to install a pressure regulating valve, or pressure reducer if the water pressure goes beyond 5 bar. Pressure above the recommended 5.0 bar may damage the shower unit and the thermostatic cartridge.

Question: How to replace the cartridge?
Answer: Remove the handle. Use a hex key to remove the thermostatic cartridge. Layer a small amount of silicone grease on all the O-rings of the new Victoria Plum cartridge and install it in the valve seat. Return the handle and the screws. Please do turn off the hot and cold water supply prior to starting.

Question: What is the recommended temperature calibration for this Victoria Plum thermostatic cartridge?
Answer: How water temperature must not go above 80℃ (176℉). The recommended temperature with a water heater is 60℃ (140℉).

Question: The handle on my shower has gotten stiff. What should I do?
Answer: Handles can go stiff due to the calcification of hard water minerals which can affect the cartridge and the valve. You have to remove the handle and the cartridge to see the extent of the buildup.
