Sauna for Skin Cleansingby Sandra Kim Leong
Skin cleansing is the technique used to remove the surface dirt and other substances which accumulate and cause clogging of the pores of your skin. You should perform regular skin cleansing to maintain a blemish free and healthy complexion.
During a skin cleanse, the elimination of toxins is usually done by stimulating the lymphatic system. It also causes the improvement of blood circulation and the removal of dead cells in the skin.
You can skin cleanse with the use of a long handled natural bristle brush or loofah sponge. Start from the soles of your feet and finish with the scalp. During skin cleansing, one needs to brush in small circles from the feet towards the chest. The sensitive areas such as face, breasts, and other sensitive areas should be avoided during this process.
Generally skin cleansing can be done in morning or evening. Since the contrast between the hot and cold water increases the microcirculation of the body tissues, it is better to do the skin cleansing before a contrast shower. This helps to bring the nutrients and oxygen to the damaged tissues and eliminates the waste and toxic substances. Contrast showers also increases the number of white blood cells.
Sauna is widely used as a method of skin cleansing. This is an ideal method for the elimination of the environmental chemicals stored in the fat cells under the skin. A dry heat sauna that is not treated with the toxic chemicals is required.
Prior to sauna cleansing, you should not be hungry or feel week. Cardiovascular exercises such as treadmill or bicycle exercises are necessary for the stimulation of the blood and lymph circulation. The duration for the sauna varies. In a low temperature sauna, sittings of 15 minutes are recommended at a time whereas in some advanced saunas, 45 minutes is recommended at a time. For increasing the circulation and the movement of chemicals from the fat tissues, niacin supplements are often used, for 2 to 3 weeks, together with the sauna therapy.
The infrared sauna treatment is generally used to stimulate the body for the elimination of toxins. The release of toxin usually starts with the elimination of carbon dioxide. After the elimination of carbon dioxide, the infrared rays start the elimination of waste materials, drugs, poisons, and other toxic materials trapped in the tissues.
The regular use of sauna converts the blood acidity into a higher alkaline level. The higher blood acidity in the body usually causes the fatigue and decreases the immune resistance of the body. In the sauna skin cleansing treatment, the patient will get a significant difference within two months in their energy level, attention span, and release from the joint and muscle aches. A significant improvement is reported so far from the regular sauna treatment in people having blood circulation problems, paralysis, fibromyalgia, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, and the hardening of the arteries.
There are no dangerous known side effects reported for the use of sauna. Hence sauna for skin cleansing is considered a safe method that you can try for eliminating toxins from your body.
