The splines on the tap gland replacement ceramic cartridge must perfectly mate with the splines under the tap handle. This part is what makes it possible to rotate the handle to open and close the tap’s water flow.

Count the spline teeth by marking it with a pen and begin counting from there. This particular tap spare has 28 teeth.

– Hot or cold?
This ceramic tap gland cartridge is for the tap’s cold side. It opens with a quarter turn in an anti-clockwise direction and closes in the opposite. The hot and cold sides are not interchangeable.
