The Franke Davos and Davos J compatible kitchen tap valve cartridge is a cold tap valve spare part. It will fit taps released after 2007. This tap spare part is the same as the Franke part number 1427R cold.

Note: This Franke Davos tap valve replacement part will fit the modified and newer versions of the Davos. Pre-2007 models have 20 spline notches while newer ones have 28. Notches are like gears. It makes for turning the tap handle on/off and serves as an anti-rotational component, hence it won’t slide to the “on” or “off” position on its own. The splines on the cartridge must match with the splines in the handle cap in order to fit.

(M4721 and M4720 are the cold and hot side cartridges for the pre-2007 Franke Davos.)

Question: My tap is not from Franke. Is this cartridge compatible?
Answer: You can remove the cartridge from the tap and take measurements. You have to know the overall length of the cartridge, its diameter, and spline teeth count. Check if the cartridge fitment is push-fit (without threads on the barrel) or screw-in (with threads). Better yet, you can send us a message with a picture of the cartridge in question and we will gladly help you.

Question: How do I replace the cartridge in a Franke Davos “J”?
Answer: Flick the blue cold indicator out of the handle. Unscrew the handle. Use an adjustable spanner to detach the old cartridge. Apply silicone grease on the surface of the new cartridge O-ring. The grease will protect the it from chafing. Insert and fasten the Franke Davos cartridge in the tap.

Question: The cartridge is stuck. How can I get it out?
Answer: A cartridge can be hard to remove because of limescale. You can try tapping the sides of the tap, perhaps, the scale will loosen. Or try using WD40.
