In 2013, the manufacturer made a shift from the 1212R cartridge to the 3819R. The SP3819 has a slightly thinner seal than its older version.

The SP3819-C cartridge spare for the cold side is compatible with the Franke Zurich swivel spout model tap. The spline top measures 7.65mm and has a teeth count of 20. 8mm is the height of the spline. It quarter turns 90-degrees to open the tap and closes with a clockwise turn.

Q: What is the difference between the SP3819-C, 1212R-C, and 3819R-C?
A: The SP3819-C is the cartridge used in newer Franke Zurich tap, such as models from 2013 onwards. SP means spare parts. Older versions of this tap use a 1212R cartridge. The seal on the 1212R is a little bit thicker than the SP3819-C. This Franke Zurich cartridge is the replacement part compatible with the versions mentioned.

Important Things to Remember When Replacing the Franke Zurich Cartridge

1. Do not forget to isolate water supplies before starting the cartridge replacement process.
2. If unsure of you tap model or which cartridge to buy, pull the old cartridge out of the valve housing. Measure it or take a photo of it and seek information from your spare part provider.

3. Plug the drain before disassembling the tap or shower valve. This will prevent small parts from accidentally falling into the drain.

4. Use your fingernail or a small tool, such as an eyeglasses screwdriver, to remove the hot and cold indicators. This will keep your tap safe from scratches.
5. Ensure the cold side cartridge goes into the right side and the hot side cartridge to the left.
