Answer: An insufficient water flow could mean a number of things. One, the pressure might be too low for the shower valve. This can be resolved by increasing water pressure. Two, a problematic non-return valve or thermostatic cartridge which can be addressed by changing the shower part. Three, clogged water supply lines. And four, the flow cartridge has deteriorated. If this is the case, a replacement Crosswater SPACW0017 is the solution.

Answer: Cartridges can look the same but have different dimensions. You can check the given measurements of the SPACW0017 above and on the second photo in the gallery. Then, compare the measurements with the cartridge you have.

Question: How can I open the shower valve to replace the Crosswater SPACW0017 cartridge?
Answer: There is a screw under the handles. Loosen the screw to remove the handle and the parts under it. Remove the wall plate and use a 17mm box spanner to remove the old cartridge.

Note: Coat the replacement Crosswater SPACW0017 cartridge O-ring with silicone grease before installing it. (The plumbers silicone grease can be seen in the last section of this page.)
