Question: How do I open the valve to change the A963400NU cartridge?
Answer: Fitting the A963400NU Ideal Standard / Trevi flow cartridge will depend on the type of valve you have.

For the Ideal Standard Melange (A4337AA) and Alto Ecotherm (A5692AA) Exposed Shower Valves:
– Remove the screw cover cap from the handle on the flow side of the shower valve. This is located at the head of the handle. Undo the screw.
– Pull out the handle. Make sure the volume control carrier is also removed together with the handle.
– Grip the spanner on the hexagonal nut of the faulty cartridge. Turn it anti-clockwise to undo the thread and remove the cartridge.

– Coat a thin layer of silicone grease on the rubber seals of the replacement A963400NU Ideal Standard / Trevi shower flow cartridge. The grease will help it squeeze in the valve and protect the rubber seals from premature deterioration. Please move to the last section of this page for the available silicone grease.

– Insert the replacement Ideal Standard A963400NU cartridge in the shower valve and reassemble the parts removed.

For the Ideal Standard Melange (A4290AA) Built-In Shower Valves:
– Remove the screw covers on both the flow handle and the temperature control handle.
– Unscrew the retaining screws and remove the handle.
– Slide out the shower valve’s wallplate.
– Use a spanner to unscrew the old cartridge and discard it.

– Grease the O-rings of the new A963400NU Ideal Standard ceramic disc flow cartridge. Available silicone grease can be seen in the last section below.

– Slide the replacement A963400NU Ideal Standard cartridge in the shower valve.
– Reassemble the wallplate, the handles, the retaining screws and the screw covers.
