The Vado C-301-RTC is a ceramic disc flow cartridge. It has a single O-ring and a blue bottom seal. The cartridge opens in an anti-clockwise direction and closes in the opposite. If the shower refuses to turn off or if it is incessantly dripping when turned off, there might be something wrong with the C-301-RTC Vado 3/4 inch flow cartridge.

Installing the Vado C-301-RTC
The internal framework of Vado shower valves compatible with the C-301-RTC flow cartridge is basically the same. The difference between each model lays with its handle design.

1. Handle removal. There is a screw cap under each of the handles. Remove the screw cap to access the grub screw. Use a hexagonal key to loosen the grub screw. Slide the handles out.

To remove the temperature control handle of the Vado Celsius (CEL-148D), Nuance (NUA-148D) and Origins (ORI-148D): unscrew the lever by hand to access the grub screw.

2. Unscrew the securing rings and shrouds then slip the cover plate out.

3. Isolate water supplies via the isolation screws on the sides of the valve. Turn each isolation screw clockwise until it tightens (be careful not to overtighten). This will close the hot and cold supplies.

Make sure you are not under the shower head when testing whether the isolation is successful. If unsure about this, water can be cut off by the mains.

4. Use a spanner to unscrew the Vado C-301-RTC and remove it from the valve.

5. Seat the newly greased replacement C-301-RTC Vado flow cartridge in the valve and screw it in place.

6. Open water supplies by turning the isolation screws anti-clockwise until the head of the screw is slightly higher than the surface of the hexagonal nut.

7. Return the cover plate, the shrouds and securing rings, and the handles.
