This is a Vado CEL-RETROFIT/B thermostatic cartridge. If your Vado shower is experiencing fluctuations in water temperature or poor water flow, there could be a problem with your thermostatic cartridge, especially in hard water areas with a lot of lime-scale.

Vado CEL-RETROFIT/B Cartridge Compatibility

The CEL-RETROFIT/B Vado thermostatic cartridge assembly is made from polymer. Limescale sticks less to the sides of a polymer cartridge compared to one made from brass material. It typically fits shower models in this list – B type shower valves – but it is not compatible with the Notion valve, C type valves, or exposed shower bar valves.

Even though this cartridge fits these models, each valve sometimes has different thermostatic cartridges for different production dates, therefore, please remove the cartridge from the valve to ensure this is the correct match. The genuine Vado CEL-RETROFIT/B Thermostatic Cartridge Assembly will be dispatched on the same day when it is ordered on a weekday before 3:00 PM.

Installing a New Polymer Vado CEL-RETROFIT/B Thermostatic Cartridge

1. Remove the prong from the shower handle by turning it clockwise. Then use a 2.5mm hex key from where the prong sat to remove the shower handle. Repeat the process with the other handle.
2. Dislodge the temperature stop ring.
3. Take off the faceplate’s retaining rings by turning it counterclockwise. Extract the valve’s faceplate.
4. Isolate hot and cold water supply by using a screwdriver and turning it clockwise, till it tightens a little. This should cut off the water supply.

Note: Please do not tighten the isolation screws too much.

Another Note: Before testing if water isolation has been achieved, please ascertain that you are not under the shower head or any part of your body under the tap. This will avoid accidental scalding when water isolation fails.

To test if this step was done successfully, replace the handle on the temperature control valve. Revolve the handle counterclockwise until it comes to a full stop. Then turn it to the opposite direction until it comes to a full stop. If water is not flowing from the water outlet, isolation is successful.

5. With a hex key, remove the grub screw attaching the Vado CEL-RETROFIT/B cartridge to the valve.
6. Use pliers to gently pull out the faulty CEL-RETROFIT/B cartridge.
7. Use a cloth to wipe or flush it with water to clean the valve housing.
8. Apply a silicone lubricant on the new Vado CEL-RETROFIT/B thermostatic cartridge. And install it in the valve. Check if the grub screw hole of the cartridge aligns with the hole on the valve itself.

9. Fasten and tighten the grub screw using the hex key.
10. Use a screwdriver to turn on the water supply with a counterclockwise turn. The isolation screws should just be slightly raised on the surface of the nooks.
11. Refit the shrouds, faceplate, and retaining rings.

12. Calibrate the CEL-RETROFIT/B Vado cartridge to the desired water temperature.
13. If all is okay, reassemble the handle.
