Vado Shower Valve Repair: Hub-002B-3/4 Flow Cartridge

A thermostatic mixer shower will let out approximately 2.5 gallons of water per minute at 80 PSI. It mixes hot and cold water together to bring about the preferred temperature desired by the showerer. Weak water flow and leaks are hints that the shower cartridge is beginning to encounter problems. Below are flow cartridge HUB-002B-3/4 installation instructions for the 3-way Vado shower valves Celsius, Elements, Tonic, Mix, and Notion. All five shower valves are similar to each other except for the handle design.

1. Remove the flow and temperature control handles by undoing the grub screw. The grub screw can be found on the sides of the handle cap.
– The lever on the Celsius temperature control knob must be unscrewed to remove.

2. Remove all the rings – stop ring, cover rings, retaining rings, flow valve rings, and temperature valve ring. Then slip the cover plate out.

3. Undo the screw-in fitment flow cartridge.

4. Apply plumbing grease on the single outer O-ring of the Vado Hub-002B-3/4 cartridge. Insert and secure it in the valve housing.

5. Restore the cover plate and the rings.

6. Restore the valve handles.
– The lever flow control handles of the Celsius must be pointing downwards before attaching the grub screw.
– The override button on the temperature control handle of the Celsius, Elements, Tonic, and Mix must point upwards (at 12:00). Press the button and push the handle against the cartridge splines. Make sure the splines do not turn. Proceed to return the grub screw to fasten the handle.
