Answer: This is the replacement process for the Vado CEL-001D-WAX thermostatic cartridge. But first, isolate the shower’s hot and cold water supplies.

– Remove the small circular screw cover cap on the side of the Vado DGS temperature control handle.
– Undo the screw to remove the handle from the valve. Make sure the washers are removed with the screw.
– Use an Allen key to remove the grub screw from the faulty Vado CEL-001D-WAX cartridge. Pull the cartridge out of the shower valve.

– Apply plumbing grease on the three O-rings of the replacement CEL-001D-WAX Vado thermostatic shower valve cartridge.
– Fit the new part in the shower bar valve.
– Put back the parts removed in reverse order.

Question: Can I use any lubricant on the CEL-001D-WAX?
Answer: No, only silicone-based and heat conducive grease should be used on the seals of the Vado CEL-001D-WAX. Oil-based and other lubricants will not protect the O-rings and can deteriorate it earlier than intended.

Answer: You can spray WD-40 on the part where limescale has overwhelmed the CEL-001D-WAX Vado shower cartridge. Leave it for some hours to overnight. Try removing the screw again to see if the solution has loosened the scale.
