Installing the Grohe 47450000 Thermo-Element

The instructions here are for the Grohe Automatic 2000 bath mixer.

1: Switch off hot and cold water supplies.
2: The right end side of the housing contains the thermostatic cartridge. Remove the cap to uncover the adjustment screw. Undo the screw to remove the cap.
3: Take off the gray shroud using a screwdriver.
4: With the shroud off, latch a 24mm spanner on the thermostat cartridge and turn it counterclockwise to loosen.

5: Use a cloth or a small brush to clean the valve housing.
6: Apply silicone grease on the o-rings of the new Grohe 47450000 cartridge. Fit the cartridge in the valve housing. Use a spanner and turn it clockwise to tighten.
7: Reposition the gray shroud and screw back the black fitting.
8: Put back the cap and washer then re-screw the adjustment screw.

9: Turn both hot and cold water supplies on and calibrate until the water temperature is an optimal 38℃ or 100.4℉.

To calibrate: Open the tap and use a digital thermometer to check if the water temperature is 38℃ (100.4℉). If the temperature is higher or lower a tepid 38℃, undo the adjustment screw and change the position on another spline. This involves repeated attempts until the preferred temperature is achieved.

10: Restore the cap.
