This is a short guide on replacing the Grohe shower spare on the Grohtherm 1000 34161 shower valve. Please shut off water supplies prior to starting the repair.

– Use a flat-blade screwdriver or a blunt tool to pop out the screw covers of the shower’s flow and thermostatic control handles. Be careful not to scratch the finish when using the screwdriver. The retaining screws can now be accessed.

– Undo the retaining screws to remove the handles.

– Undo the screws holding the cover plate.

– Remove the cover plate.

– Remove the cover cap stop sleeve from the flow control side of the shower valve.

– Latch a 17mm spanner on the hexagonal nut of the faulty Grohe flow cartridge and turn it anti-clockwise to remove the shower part.

– Grease the seals of the replacement Grohe 45869000 flow cartridge and slip it in the valve. (Please see plumber’s grease we offer in the section below.) Use the spanner to tighten the threads to secure it in place. Do not overtighten.

– Restore parts that were removed to reassemble the shower valve.
